R4 Root Canal Disinfectant Solution

Septodont R4 is a professional-grade root canal disinfectant for the cleaning and disinfection of root canals by irrigation. Formulated with chlorhexidine digluconate, it delivers broad-spectrum antimicrobial action targeting anaerobic bacterial strains in the root-canal flora and endo-periodontal lesions.

Key Features

  • Low surface tension for deep penetration into dentinal tubules
  • Broad spectrum & rapid action against 13 tested anaerobic bacterial strains
  • Non-irritant formula β€” well tolerated by periapical tissues
  • Long-lasting persistent antibacterial effect for 48+ hours after application
  • Efficiency equivalent to sodium hypochlorite with greater duration of action

Indications

Root canal irrigation when endodontic re-treatment is required and/or when root canal treatment requires multiple sessions.

Composition (per 100g)

  • Chlorhexidine digluconate (20% solution) β€” 0.2 g
  • Denatured ethyl alcohol β€” 40.0 g
  • Excipients q.s. (acetic acid, purified water) β€” 100.0 g

Directions for Use

  1. Perform standard chemical and mechanical preparation of the root canal.
  2. Flush the root canal with sterile water or an EDTA solution to remove debris.
  3. Dry the canal thoroughly using paper points.
  4. For final irrigation, draw R4 solution into a disposable pipette β€” do not extrude beyond the apical foramen.
  5. Carefully introduce R4 into the root canal. Avoid excessive force or pressure. Do not flush the canal.
  6. Remove any excess solution that could interfere with the temporary crown sealing.
  7. If needed, place a cotton pellet in the access cavity and seal hermetically with a temporary filling.
  8. Use a new pipette each time to prevent contamination.
  9. At the next session (24 hours to 30 days later), flush with sterile water or EDTA, then proceed with preparation or permanent filling.

Storage

  • Close the container tightly after each use.
  • Use within 6 months after opening.
  • Store in a cool place (10–25Β°C).
