Directions for Use
- Fill the pulp chamber with Glyde or Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl). Explore the coronal two-thirds of the canal with stainless steel Nos. 10 and 15 hand files using a reciprocating back-and-forth motion until they are loose.
- Start the ProTaper sequence with S1 (purple). S1 passively follows the portion of the canal secured with hand files, cutting dentin in a crown-down manner. Irrigate, recapitulate with the 10K File, then re-irrigate.
- Use the manual ProTaper handle motion: (a) Gently rotate clockwise until snug; (b) Cut dentin by rotating clockwise while withdrawing; (c) If over-engaged, disengage by rotating counterclockwise 45–90° while withdrawing; (d) Repeat until desired length is achieved.
- Use a precurved No. 10K File with NaOCl or Glyde to negotiate the rest of the canal and establish patency. Determine working length with a No. 15K File.
- Once a smooth glide path is verified, sequentially carry S1 then S2 to full working length. Irrigate, recapitulate, and re-irrigate after each instrument.
- With the canal flooded with irrigant, work F1 (yellow 20/07) to length in one or more passes.
