Dentsply Sirona Dycal® – Radiopaque Calcium Hydroxide Composition (Ivory Shade)

Dentsply Dycal is a rigid, self-setting material useful in pulp-capping (direct and indirect) and as a protective base/liner under dental filling materials. It will not inhibit the polymerization of acrylic and composite restorations.

Based on the original Dycal formulation, Dycal Radiopaque Calcium Hydroxide Composition provides the potential for improved esthetics as well as clinically proven performance. It offers improved physical properties with higher compressive strength and lower solubility than the original Dycal product — the standard in calcium hydroxide materials.

The quick set time and excellent handling characteristics of Dycal have helped make it the #1 selling calcium hydroxide composition. Dycal stimulates the formation of secondary dentin.

Directions to Use

Preparation: Ensure the tooth requiring treatment is clean and isolated from moisture.

Mixing: Dispense a small amount of Base Paste and Catalyst Paste onto the mix pad in the correct ratio (1.17g Base : 1.0g Catalyst). Mix thoroughly for 10 seconds using a spatula until a smooth, creamy consistency is achieved.

Application: Apply the mixed Dycal to the prepared tooth using a suitable dental instrument or applicator tip. Carefully place the material onto the desired area ensuring proper coverage.

Setting: Dycal is a self-setting material. Allow 2½ to 3½ minutes for complete setting before proceeding with further dental procedures.

Additional Steps: Depending on the procedure, additional steps may follow — such as placing a liner or base material over the Dycal layer, followed by restoration with a filling material or crown.
